The first "comic with issues" was an Archie story dealing with Occupy Wall Street. The "issue" here is a lot heavier in subject and story content. It's Rick Veitch's one-shot "The Big Lie". The story deals with a woman who discovers time travel and goes back a decade to prevent the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and save her husband's life. The story is an obvious platform for Veitch's "Truther" stance. Truthers believe 9/11 was more than a terrorist attack, but most likely an "inside job".
In this episode, I do a panel-by-panel review of "The Big Lie", and I am joined by T-Mafia of Podcast X.
Play/Download
Finally, I can at least manually add the show to my iTunes feed.
ReplyDeleteThe show has been on iTunes for a minute.
ReplyDeleteFuckin' news to me.
DeleteEverybody: as I mentioned at the end of the show I was gonna do, I've linked to many of the old THOOMs with me (at least the ones Tim has re-posted on The Internet Archive) over on the PCX site.
ReplyDeletea remix of your old review featuring slow poke mafia
ReplyDeletePeople like remixes. It's big business.
DeleteSlow? Even if that was true, you of all people should be patient with "slow". T-Mafia and I are often so good as to take the time to "slow down" our mental capabilities to communicate with your dumb ass, you should extend the charity to others.
Jon better be careful fucking his mother. She probably has every STD there is.
DeleteYou see all the good life advice T-Mafia is giving you Jon? He's lowering himself to give you life saving advice. You should be grateful.
Delete"Jon better be careful fucking his mother. She probably has every STD there is."
Deletewhat did you fucked your mom and realized that she ain't safe for you to fuck.
"Slow? Even if that was true, you of all people should be patient with "slow". T-Mafia and I are often so good as to take the time to "slow down" our mental capabilities to communicate with your dumb ass, you should extend the charity to others."
stay classy nigga.
"You see all the good life advice T-Mafia is giving you Jon? He's lowering himself to give you life saving advice. You should be grateful."
so t-mafia is gay?
"what did you fucked your mom and realized that she ain't safe for you to fuck."
DeleteThe only thing that is 'fucked' here is your grammar.
"stay classy nigga."
"so t-mafia is gay?"
How are these appropriate responses? I answered your ignorance straight. That stay classy response would only be appropriate if I responded in the low class, gutter speak like you.
And how did I imply T-Mafia is gay? Because I said "lowering himself"? That's a stretch don't you think? You should find a word or phrase in my comment that links or has some connection to your insult. I'm trying to help you here.
"How are these appropriate responses? I answered your ignorance straight. That stay classy response would only be appropriate if I responded in the low class, gutter speak like you."
Deletestraight ha your sense of humor is somewhat boring to read and the slowpoke comment was aimed at t-mafia not you but i see that you can be a bit misunderstanding i will give no fuck's on this reply.
"And how did I imply T-Mafia is gay? Because I said "lowering himself"? That's a stretch don't you think? You should find a word or phrase in my comment that links or has some connection to your insult. I'm trying to help you here."
i all ways think that he is secretly gay and is hiding it by fucking his granddaughter.

Ohh, someone mad that Eisner was besmirched. Maybe this is a Timmy Thoom Villain, not a Trenchcoat villain.
Delete"Ohh, someone mad that Eisner was besmirched. Maybe this is a Timmy Thoom Villain, not a Trenchcoat villain."
Deletelike i give a fuck about Eisner bitchass smith. i just gave tim some links on will Eisner's reason on making ebony look like a monkey.
Who is this joker? JD?
ReplyDeleteNo. 'Jon' knows too many details about Podcast X to be JD. JD doesn't have an mp3 player and he doesn't even listen to THOOM, let alone Podcast X.
DeleteI think Jon is XantesFire.
You know what? I take that back. XantesFire is a worthless asshole, but he couldn't even pretend to write grammar that bad.
DeleteAlso concerning JD, he would never write "stay classy nigga".
Just some random faggot.
ReplyDeleteI think its the return of Downcast(E).
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely someone who has a history with the show, and that's, what, 7 people? Sorry.
The shows get more than 7 downloads...motherfucker. And I this isn't downcaste's style.
DeleteSorry, 8. I keep forgetting the effect of being on iTunes pumps up the numbers. How do you know what Downcast(i before e except after c)'s style is anymore. Last time you saw him, you left him in a park. That kid's so young, he couldn't possibly find his way home.
DeleteIt's downcaste with a lower case "d".
DeleteUgh. No wonder why you dispensed with him.
DeleteNotice "jon" apparently listens to every episode of THOOM. So at least you have a loyal listener until such time as he inevitably dies of AIDS.
ReplyDeletenotice "whore man mafia" stroke is getting worst and he can't speak at all. so at least he will die of HIV.
Deletesince your a baby fucker i hope these things happen to you

The grammar, jon. Whew.
DeleteBTW, if you know if Courtney isn't too busy being a responsible adult, share this with her. http://blastr.com/2012/09/a-convincing-and-gross-ve.php
DeleteJon's careful not to fuck any babies who are old enough to tell on him.
ReplyDelete"You know what? I take that back. XantesFire is a worthless asshole, but he couldn't even pretend to write grammar that bad."
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment.
I've been too busy to post lately. Also I thought I had this comic so I was holding off on this review til I had read it. Guess I don't have it, comments in a day or so.
Actually Ray Bradbury may be okay with the 911 scam because he wrote The Toynbee Convector, story about a guy that scams the world into thinking he traveled 100 years into the future and finds a utopian society, which inspires the world to create that utopian world.
ReplyDeleteNope, FDR knew an attack was coming just not when nor where. The U.S had many territories and outposts between Japan and Hawaii and they though the Japanese would attack a few of those first.
I thought we've discussed this before. TCM is wrong. Anime would probably suck or be blander if they had won and conquered the U.S. Since the U.S. is usually the winner we tend to make movies where there has to be a happy ending. The U.S. is too "we won"/happy ending orientated. Japan is able to make such great stuff cause they have the realistic view that they don't always win nor survive.
There goes Thoom again, not liking nor appreciating something because children die. Grave of the Fireflies is based on the life of the book's author. He lived but his sister did really die. That is a reality of the world, children die. The majority of deaths in the world are children.
No, even the conspiracy theorists understand that it's not the whole military that's in with the conspiracy but a small well placed cabal. So if they did inform the military, hopefully they would contact a non-cabal personnel.
Sort of, they built the One World Trade Center.
Wish the planes had crashed into the stadiums instead.
Josie and the Pussycats was great for what it was, an Archie comics movie. And they did have a lot against it, an overused plot, Josie was bland, think they were trying to get the younger crowd. Should have tried those who grew up with The Pussycats and made it more adult and used more characters who looked like the cartoon version. Their Alan seemed so anemic.
Did you guys discuss the most obvious and biggest mistake in this story? If you time travel into the past to save your loved one(s) from a disaster, you first prove who you are. Then tell them what they have to do.
Since Anime was partly inspired by anime, I don't think it would change that much. It definitely wouldn't have nearly as many allusions to nuclear obliteration (bye-bye, Akira!) but Anime is saturated with silly, fluffy nonsense as it is.
DeleteNo matter what the outcome of WWII, I believe that Japan would always create this bit of awesome.
DeleteYeah, but so has us. Flare guns have been used often to distract heat seeking devices. And flying boats have been used to slam, or get a closer shot, or to blow up a chopper before. I would figure you would bring up mechs or the different types of Kaiju. Look at Neon Genesis Evangelion, only someone born of radioactive eggs could make something like that. Or maybe a lot of Tequila.
ReplyDelete"So have we"
DeleteBlack Lagoon is totally inspired by American action. It's just that Americans wouldn't bother to put it in animated form. Also, the show doesn't stop the crazy at that moment.
If we didn't drop those bombs, Germany would be the #1 home of weird porn, and I guess France would be #1 for weird cartoons.
OH, BTW, fun little tidbit: JRR Tolkien didn't like reading Shakespeare in school, either. So there's a feather in your cap.
ReplyDeleteI don't like reading Tolkien, it's so endless.
ReplyDeleteThat's not the- never mind.
DeleteOh, I got the point that Tolkien and I dislike Shakespeare but I'm just pointing out I don't like reading too much of Tolkien.
ReplyDeleteVichus, do you remember if Thoom liked or dislike Red State, cause I thought he hated it because of the "unlikable characters" but recently he said he liked it.
I don't remember. Guess you have some listening to do! I liked Red State a lot, but I think the ending was a Cop Out. (get it?)
DeleteI do know that Tim hated Cop Out.
The link to the audio is gone, otherwise I would have already. I can only go by the comments section.
ReplyDeleteIs something wrong with the spacing?
Yeah, I just noticed that. Blogger fucking eats asshole. Tim needs to move to wordpress.
