That's true. The early Animal Man stories were typical mediocre silver age DC stuff. And I just read a bunch of issue of JLI in the early 90s and A-Man was criminally underused and misused there. The Last Days of Animal was very average and Countdown to Adventure was fucking horrible. His appearance in 52 was the best he's been portrayed since the Morrison series IMO.
